Concrete

Concrete Maturity & Temperature Profiling with intelliRock

Concrete maturity is an industry standard technology that has been around for decades (ASTM C 1074). Based on time and temperature, this technology is simply based on the fact that the chemical reactions in concrete accelerate under warm conditions, and slow down under cold conditions. A mathematical algorithm inside the intelliRock logger compensates data from concrete cylinders for non-standard curing temperatures in the concrete placement, thereby reporting an accurate estimate of in-place concrete strength in real-time.

The intelliRock system is also ideal for monitoring and recording temperatures in placements on cold weather projects and mass pours.

What's made intelliRock so successful? intelliRock's innovative form factor and cost effective packaging concept allows multiple sensors to run simultaneously on a job site without being connected to an external data logger. The data logger itself is embedded inside the concrete where it is protected from the every day hazards of the job site.

Extend Your Construction Schedule and Accelerate Strength Gain with a powerblanket

Innovative technology in the powerblanket electrically generates heat and spreads it evenly across the concrete placement. This heat spreading technology also makes the powerblanket ideal for melting snow, thawing ground, heating rebar - and many other applications.

The heat produced by the powerblanket, along with the blanket's insulating properties not only protects concrete in cold weather, the higher concrete temperatures also accelerate strength gain.

Asphalt

Non-Nuclear Asphalt Density & PQI

The Pavement Quality Indicator (PQI) measures asphalt density through the use of a radio frequency, electrical impedance approach, in which a novel toroidal electrical sensing field is established in the material being tested, the PQI is able to make instantaneous, in-situ measurements of pavement density. The sensor consists of a unique set of flat plates that are interconnected to form the electrodes of a planar capacitor. Changes in the asphalt density change the dielectric constant of the medium between the capacitor plates. The resultant measured capacitance is increased in proportion to the change in dielectric constant. Sophisticated electronics and internal software analyze the dielectric information and determine pavement density.

The importance of this innovation is that relative density measurements can now be taken instantly, allowing for necessary changes to the rolling pattern to be made immediately, as well as making it possible to take many more readings per hour on the job site, both of which help ensure the best possible pavement quality. The device is light weight, easy to use and requires no special licensing. Thus, almost any member of the paving crew can operate it successfully.
